What is Big Sky River about?
Looking to take a break from New York City and put some real distance between herself and her ex-husband, Tara Kendall (Emmanuelle Vaugier) books a summer rental in a small, rural Montana town that endeared itself to Tara as a young girl. She credits her time there for her love of horses and horseback riding. Sheriff Boone Taylor (Kavan Smith) has finally found his footing after losing the love of his life. Boone is kind to his new neighbor, but he can’t deny that there’s something very special about Tara and he’d like her to stay for more than just one summer. When Tara’s stepdaughter reaches out for help, the painful realities of real life step on any dreams of life in the country. That is, unless Tara can take care of those she loves and herself, all at once.

Emmanuelle Vaugier (Tara)
Emmanuelle Vaugier has extensive credits in both film and television which include ABC’s Mistresses and the film Secondhand Lions with Michael Caine. Most recently she has guest starred on Magnum, P.I. and Supergirl. Fun fact: Both Vaugier and Smith starred in the TV series, Rogue, but in different seasons. Rogue also starred a pre-Yellowstone Cole Hauser.
Kavan Smith (Boone)
Hallmark Channel viewers are quite familiar with Kavan Smith, who has played Lee Coulter on When Calls the Heart since season 2. Sci-Fi fans will also recognize Smith from his roles on Stargate: Atlantis, The 4400, and Eureka.
Who directed Big Sky River?
Big Sky River was directed by Peter Benson, who also appears in the film. You might recognize Benson from his roles in the Aurora Teagarden Mystery movies, Netflix’s The Baby-Sitters Club, or The Bletchley Circle: San Francisco.
