The announcement came via a joint statement from Willis’ family. The group, which includes his ex-wife Demi Moore, current wife Emma Heming, and daughter Rumer Willis, was posted to Demi’s Instagram. The post said: This is a really challenging time for our family and we are so appreciative of your continued love, compassion and support. We are moving through this as a strong family unit, and wanted to bring his fans in because we know how much he means to you, as you do to him. As Bruce always says, “Live it up” and together we plan to do just that. Love, Emma, Demi, Rumer, Scout, Tallulah, Mabel, & Evelyn"

What is aphasia?

Willis’ diagnosis of aphasia takes the world by surprise. Aphasia is a language disorder that largely impacts the ability to communicate. It affects the person’s ability to both understand and express written and spoken language. This would make things difficult for anyone, let alone a person who makes their living out of speaking written dialogue. Producer Randall Emmett, who has worked on a number of projects with Willis, gave his thoughts on the announcement to Deadline. “Bruce and I have worked on over 20 films together. He is a terrific actor and legendary action star, an incredible father, and a close friend,” said Emmett. “I fully support Bruce and his family during this challenging time and admire him for his courage in battling this incredibly difficult medical condition. Bruce will always be part of our family.” At the time Willis is stepping away from acting, he leaves behind at least eight films that have yet to be released. That includes action film White Elephant and Paradise City, the latter of which reunites him with Pulp Fiction co-star John Travolta. It’s unknown whether this announcement will impact the release or production of any of these movies. Next, See Inside Bruce Willis’ $15 Million Idaho Retreat
