The company revealed that it will be expanding the number of days offering the cheapest ticket option, the $104 one-day, one-park option. According to the announcement shared on the Disney Parks Blog, there will be an increase of “nearly two months’ worth” of days you can reserve this ticket. In a letter to employees shared with CNN, Josh D’Amaro, chairman of Disney Parks, said that updates to both Disneyland and Disney World this year are “things that might need some change” based on feedback from park guests and cast members. As of right now, there is no mention of the same expansion of dates happening at Walt Disney World, but it’s possible that this might come in the future. The positive change comes after a ticket price increase in October of 2022 that also increased the price of add-ons like Genie+, Lightning Lanes, and Park Hopper, as reported by Deadline. People were not happy with this news, to say the least, but that was before Bob Chapek was ousted from his position of CEO and Bob Iger returned. Hopefully, the news of increased ticket offerings is a sign of more change to come under Iger. Along with more available dates to purchase the $104 park ticket, Disney announced a few other significant changes. Starting on Feb. 4, guests with Park Hopper tickets (or a Magic Key pass) will be able to visit other parks at 11 a.m. each day, two hours earlier than was previously allowed. There will also be complimentary Disney PhotoPass for guests starting Feb. 4 throughout the Disney100 celebration at Disneyland. For Disney World, one new change is a relaxation on the need for reservations, with the Disney Parks Blog reporting that, in the coming months, Walt Disney World Annual Passholders will be able to visit the parks without a reservation after 2 p.m., except for Magic Kingdom on Saturdays and Sundays and blackout dates. There are a couple of other smaller changes as well, like complimentary self-parking if you are staying at a Disney World resort, but hopefully, more significant changes will follow. Earlier this week, Disney Parks announced on Jan. 10 the return of the “Happily Ever After.”
