In a new interview with Variety, the actor opened up about much of his life and career—including that one time he gave Matt Damon a lap dance on a Broadway stage. Oh yeah, you read that right. Even crazier? Barbara Walters was there, too. Jackman played singer and songwriter Peter Allen in The Boy From Oz, a musical involving several minutes of improv and audience interaction. Jackman admitted that once he got comfortable with the role, he “felt completely free to do whatever the hell [he] wanted,” even admitting, “I was an asshole at times.” One evening, Walters and Damon were both in attendance, and he called them both on stage. “[I] made Matt Damon give Barbara Walters a lap dance, which turned into me giving Matt Damon a lap dance,” he told the publication, adding, “And he didn’t punch me.” Later, at the 2004 Tony Awards, he unexpectedly called Sarah Jessica Parker up on stage to dance. She wasn’t dressed for the occasion, and almost suffered a wardrobe malfunction with her ballerina top. “I really felt for her that night,” Jackman said, realizing the moment she stepped on stage that he may not have made the best choice. But, you live and you learn, hopefully. Perhaps we’ll get a revival of the Hugh Jackman burlesque show one of these days. More News:
