Mel C, whose full name is Melanie Chisholm, reflected on the royal interaction from 1997, where she and the rest of the British girl group posed for a photo with King Charles III back when he was still known as the Prince of Wales.  Chisholm—known to Spice Girls fans as Sporty Spice—was in attendance for the 1997 Royal Gala alongside Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice), Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Melanie “Mel B” Brown (Scary Spice) and Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice), to perform in celebration of the 21st anniversary of the Prince’s Trust.  The “Wannabe” singers all circled around the future king, with Halliwell and Brown even planting kisses on his cheeks, ignoring all royal protocol before snapping the now-iconic photo.  “At the time, I was one of the shyer members of the band, so I was cringing inside as the girls were kissing Prince Charles,” Chisholm recalled during a new interview with People. “I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I can’t believe they’re doing it.’”  Pool/Tim Graham Picture Library/Getty Images She continued, “But now I’m really proud that the girls did that because I think that’s part of the reason the world fell in love with the Spice Girls. We were kind of doing what everybody wished they could do, and it was never with malice. It was always with a smile.”  Chisholm noted that the photo takes on a whole new meaning now that Charles is King. (He recently inherited the title of King after his mother’s, Queen Elizabeth II, death on Sept. 8.)  “Now that Charles is our King, it kind of makes it even more naughty,” the Dancing With the Stars alum told the outlet. “Those naughty Spice Girls!”  Chrisholm is expected to look back on the royal memory, along with many others, in her new memoir, THE SPORTY ONE: My Life as a Spice Girl, which is slated for release on Sept. 27.  More News:
