In a TikTok clip with executive producer Mohammed Diab and Isaac, a little girl asks if there’s a Moon Knight Season 2. Diab looks bewildered, and the camera pans to a heavily-bearded Isaac, who says, “Why else would we be in Cairo?!” Diab previously revealed to Deadline on May 4 that there will be an “expansion” one day. “We never discussed it being a season 2, but one day there’s going to be an expansion, but I don’t know how it’s going to look like," he shared. Asked whether he’s expected to return for more work on Season 2 Diab admitted, “We don’t know if there’s a next season.” “Marvel doesn’t go with a conventional way, so even if they like the character and want to extend the world, it could be Season 2, it could be a standalone film, or he can join another superhero’s journey,” he said. “I’m kept in the dark, just like the fans.” Fans were speculating whether Moon Knight, which debuted in March 2022, would return for a second season after Marvel Studios reportedly removed a tweet with the finale trailer that called the sixth episode the “series finale” and tweeted the trailer shortly again, but this time dubbing the episode the “season finale.” Guess we’ll just have to wait and see! In the meantime, get the lowdown on Moon Knight and the potential Moon Knight Season 2 below—but beware of spoilers!

How to watch Moon Knight

The series streams on Disney+. Season 1 is available on the streaming service. Marvel Studios

Who is in the Moon Knight cast?

The Moon Knight Season 2 cast may include:

Oscar Isaac as Marc Spector, Steven Grant and Jake Lockley

May Calamawy as Layla El-Faouly

F. Murray Abraham as the voice of Khonshu

Antonia Salib as Taweret

Ethan Hawke as Arthur Harrow

Oscar Isaac played Marc Spector, Steven Grant and Jake Lockley in the series. Given that Isaac portrayed the titular character, who has dissociative identity disorder, it seems safe to assume he would be back should there be a second season. Marvel Studios Marvel Studios Marvel Studios Marvel Studios Marvel Studios The first season also starred May Calamawy as Layla El-Faouly, F. Murray Abraham as the voice of the Egyptian God Khonshu, Antonia Salib as the voice of Taweret and Ethan Hawke as Arthur Harrow, who (spoiler alert) was shot by Jake Lockley in the Season 1 finale’s mid-credits scene—but as we’ve seen with Kingpin in Hawkeye Season 1, a gunshot doesn’t necessarily mean a villain is dead!

What might be the Moon Knight Season 2 plot?

Khonshu informed Arthur Harrow in the finale’s mid-credits scene that Marc Spector “has no idea how troubled he truly is.” The scene also officially introduced viewers to Jake Lockley, who is one of Marc’s other personalities. Diab has said that he would “love to see more of Jake.” Speaking to The Wrap, Diab said, “If you ask me, I would love to have the chance to make Moon Knight into a film,” Diab said. “Maybe join someone from the Marvel Universe so it’s like partnering up with someone else or being a part of another journey.” “I would love to see more of Jake, see life through Jake’s point of view at some point. The best thing about starting a new story is the Marc and Steven dynamic is going to change because they’re now living in one body. So it’s such an interesting world,” he added. “I want to see Layla, who doesn’t like being an avatar and how is she going to live with that or is she going to reject that or is she going to come to terms with her being a superhero? I love all that. So I hope we can put all that in a blender and just play with it.” Marvel Studios Diab also told Deadline that he wants Layla, who became Tawaret’s avatar in the Season 1 finale, to be a “temporary avatar.” He said, “Having her partner with someone completely different from her, [like] Tawaret, would be so interesting and they can drive each other crazy. Her learning does she need to be a superhero now or not, because she hates the idea right now, or maybe she needs to learn it’s important or not. There’s so much room to go there, I don’t know what’s going to happen.” Well, we will be over the moon if Marc, Steven, Jake and Layla do return!

When is the Moon Knight Season 2 release date?

If Moon Knight Season 2 production began in August 2022 as believed, we may see Moon Knight Season 2 drop in Spring 2023 with a similar schedule as Season 1. However, that also depends largely on the MCU’s upcoming slate and timetable, much of which was shuffled around because of the COVID-19 pandemic and other factors. Time will tell if Moon Knight Season 2 will be in Phase 5 or later!

Is there a Moon Knight Season 2 trailer?

There’s no trailer yet for Moon Knight Season 2, but watch this space! When it does drop, we’re expecting some more teases of Jake Lockley and Khonshu, plus Layla and Tawaret’s relationship as well. Next, which Marvel movies are the best? See how we ranked the entire MCU!
