The actor, 69, appeared to throw a bit of shade at Craig’s role as Bond in his latest film, marking his fifth and final time playing the legendary spy agent. “I saw the last one and I saw Skyfall. I love Skyfall,” Brosnan told GQ UK in a new interview published Thursday, Sept. 22. But the False Positive star seems to think No Time To Die doesn’t live up to the standard of Craig’s previous Bond films. “I’m not too sure about the last one,” Brosnan candidly stated. “Daniel always gives of his heart. Very courageous, very strong. But…” According to GQ, the actor never finished his thought, which didn’t seem to be leading to a very complimentary statement before he trailed off. In addition to the latest installment, Craig, 54, has played the beloved character in four other movies: Spectre (2015), Skyfall (2012), Quantum of Solace (2008) and Casino Royale (2006). Craig succeeded Brosnan in the role of 007 around 2004, when producers called him to tell him they were “going another way,” per GQ. Prior to his exit, Brosnan portrayed Bond in four films, including, Die Another Day (2002), The World is Not Enough (1999), Tomorrow Never Dies (1997) and GoldenEye (1995). Now with Craig also done with the franchise, the Bond producers will be seeking a new actor to play the iconic character, although Brosnan doesn’t seem to care much about who takes over the role. “Who should do it? I don’t care,” he stated, while noting, “It’ll be interesting to see who they get, who the man shall be. Whoever he be, I wish him well.” Producer Barbara Broccoli previously told Variety that the announcement of the next Bond is still “a couple years off” as the team is tasked with finding someone who will agree to a “10-12-year commitment” to the franchise. “When people go, ‘Oh who are you going to get?’ it’s not just about casting an actor for a film. It’s about a reinvention, and ‘Where are we taking it? What do we want to do with the character?’” Broccoli stated. “And then, once we figure that out, who’s the right person for that particular reinvention?” “It’s an evolution,” Broccoli added at the time. “Bond is evolving just as men are evolving. I don’t know who’s evolving at a faster pace.” More News:
