He captioned his most recent video, “A necessary invention,” with text overlaying the video reading, “I finally invented a skateboard to fit the exact dimensions of a Spirit Airlines carry on.” In it, Hover balanced on the corner of a small, possibly homemade dolly that resembled the scooters often found in elementary school gyms, as one commenter pointed out. He geared up for a trick and successfully flipped—and landed on—the makeshift board, despite its odd dimensions and lack of a solid center. The onscreen text changed to say, “No more broken boards! ✈️,” as the video switched to recap the original incident. Hover went viral on TikTok last week after snapping his skateboard in half to avoid paying Spirit Airlines’ $89 fee for exceeding its length requirements. TikTokers quickly memed the response from a Spirit gate agent in the comments. “That was unnecessary, Sir,” she said in response to him stomping on the board, as though she would have personally benefitted from his oversized luggage fee. The memes continued in the comment section for the follow-up. “creates custom sized board Spirit: ’that was unnecessary sir’,” one commenter wrote. “It was necessary,” another commenter agreed. “not me thinking he made a foldable board,” someone else said since his board was broken down the middle into two pieces in the first video. Of course, someone had to play the role of the party pooper. “You didn’t invent that, it’s a furniture moving dolly. I have one in the other room right now. 😂,” one viewer wrote. “Yes that’s exactly what it is. No modifications. This is a joke,” Hover replied. TBD if he tries to fly with the dolly on his next trip, but we feel pretty confident that if he does, he’ll document it and report back! More Pop Culture:
