In last week’s season 2 premiere of Resident Alien, Harry did indeed return Max (Judah Prehn) to earth but in the process of getting him home safely, Harry lost his memory and eventually his ship. Waking up in a hospital, Harry suffered memory loss and believed himself to be his favorite Law & Order detective, Lennie Briscoe (Jerry Orbach) and Asta (Sara Tomko) his prostitute-informant, Cosette. Before discovering Harry was back on Earth, Asta was frantically looking for Max in the aftermath at the hangar bay where Harry’s ship was held. About to give the bad news to his parents that Max is missing she discovers him to be perfectly fine at home and waiting for his dad to make pancakes. Harry’s memory is jolted back courtesy of his udon-restaurant-resident-octopus-cousin (voiced by Nathan Fillion). He goes back to his ship which has crash-landed in the outfield of the Patience community baseball field and is about to take off once again when his ship doesn’t start. In order to stay incognito, he dissipates the ship until all that is left is several metal balls in a box. Whether that is an homage to the Lonely Island song featuring Justin Timberlake of a similar name is anyone’s guess. Meanwhile, Sheriff Mike (Corey Reynolds) and Deputy Liv (Elizabeth Bowen) continue looking into Dr. Vanderspeigle and his connection to the severed foot found in the lake by his cabin. Asta teaches Harry that family doesn’t necessarily mean a blood relative, and Harry, seeking to connect with his alien side, breaks out his octopus cousin from being the next chef’s special. In this week’s episode of Resident Alien entitled, “The Wire,” it’s summertime in Patience, Colorado, which means a lot more activity on the lake and rival towns looking to siphon away Patience’s tourist dollars. The sheriff and the deputy dig deeper into Harry’s past while Harry digs deeper… into his cabin as he begins to build a safety bunker for him and Asta to retreat to when his people eventually come to Earth to finish the job Harry was sent to do—destroy the Earth’s human inhabitants. His replacement doctor, Dr. Ethan Stone (Michael Cassidy) has been a no-show at the clinic and his whereabouts are unknown. Max continues to feel side effects from one of the metal spheres from the spaceship and confides in Sahar (Gracelyn Awad Rinke) about the recent changes he’s been experiencing. Harry joins Sheriff Mike’s weekly poker game in order to make friends and influence people. A replacement doctor fills in for Dr. Ethan who was the permanent replacement for Dr. Vanderspeigle who was a temporary replacement for the previous town doctor, Dr. Hodges (Jan Bos).
