When is Season 4 of Succession coming out?
HBO has yet to tease a release date or timeframe for Succession Season 4. However, it looks like late 2022 or early 2023 could be a possibility, as filming will allegedly start in June 2022 (see below for more on that).

Who is in the Succession Season 4 cast?
The Roys and Roy-adjacents (ahem, Cousin Greg and Tom) will be back for Season 4. Brian Cox plays patriarch Logan Roy, while his children are portrayed by Jeremy Strong (Kendall Roy), Sarah Snook (Shiv Roy), Kieran Culkin (Roman Roy) and Alan Ruck (Connor Roy). The cast also includes Nicholas Braun (Cousin Greg), Matthew Macfadyen (Tom Wambsgans), Hiam Abbass (Marcia Roy), Peter Friedman (Frank), J. Smith Cameron (Gerri), Justine Lupe (Willa), David Rasche (Karl Muller), Fisher Stevens (Hugo Baker), Scott Nicholson, Zoë Winters and Jeannie Berlin. The most recent season welcomed new faces, including Alexander Skarsgård (Lukas Matsson), Sanaa Lathan (Lisa Arthur), Linda Emond (Michelle-Anne Vanderhoven), Jihae Kim (Berry Schneider), Adrien Brody (Josh Aaronson) and Hope Davis (Sandi Furness).
What happened in the Season 3 finale of Succession?
Surprisingly, the Roy siblings united against a common enemy: their father. In an effort to prevent their dad from selling Waystar Royco to GoJo’s Lukas Matsson, Kendall, Roman and Shiv teamed up to veto the change of control. “A change of control needs a super majority in the holding company. Mom got us that in the divorce. He’d need us on board,” Kendall tells his siblings. Kendall explains that Logan “can’t sanction a deal without us, that’s legal fact. Block him and he’s fed.” However, when they told their father that he needs them for a change of control, Logan shouts, “You’re playing toy fing soldiers! Go on! F*** off! I have you beat! You f***ing morons!” By the time Shiv, Kendall and Roman had arrived, their parents had reviewed the terms of their divorce agreement and “agreed that the arrangements were a little antiquated.” So, who tipped Logan off that his kids intended to push him out? Well, it appears it was none other than Shiv’s husband, Tom, who had been informed of the plan beforehand. In the final moments of the jaw-dropping finale, Logan was seen (by viewers and Shiv) patting Tom on the shoulder and smiling. Macfadyen admitted that it made sense to him that his character would go against his wife. He told Deadline, “It’s an accumulation; it’s a pivot by a thousand cuts. From the very beginning, he’s had to take a lot. She speaks of an open marriage on their wedding night; it hasn’t been an easy ride for Tom, he’s had to take a lot of shit from the brothers and from his father-in-law and everybody. And then there’s the real terror of potential jail time. I think something flipped. But when I read the last episode, I was like, ‘This makes sense.’”
How many episodes will there be in Season 4 of Succession?
Succession fans will be getting an extra episode come Season 4. While Season 3 had nine episodes, the upcoming one will be comprised of 10 episodes.
What will happen in Season 4 of Succession?
HBO has teased “existential angst and familial division among the Roys” in Season 4. According to the official logline, the sale of Waystar Royco to Lukas Matsson will be moving “ever closer.” The prospect of the sale “provokes existential angst and familial division among the Roys as they anticipate what their lives will look like once the deal is completed,” per HBO. “A power struggle ensues as the family weighs up a future where their cultural and political weight is severely curtailed.”
Will there be a fifth season of Succession?
It’s possible fans might have an additional season to look forward to beyond the fourth. Speaking to The Times in June 2021, executive producer Georgia Pritchett said (via Collider), “I think the maximum would be five seasons, but possibly more like four.” At the time she noted, “We’re at the end of filming Season 3, so at this point [Armstrong] is saying only one more." Months later during an interview about the Season 3 finale, Armstrong was asked by Deadline if he had a finite ending in store for Succession and if he saw it “lasting five, six or seven seasons” or if he “takes it one season at a time.” He answered, “A bit of both. I have a pitch for where and how I think we end. It’s not immutable in respect to my colleagues, we’ll chat about it and how many seasons that plays out over.
