Target will remain closed on Thanksgiving Day in 2022. “We … closed our stores on Thanksgiving Day (in 2020) in order to minimize crowds and help our guests take the stress out of getting the best deals of the season," the company said in a press release last year. “The response was so positive that we’ll carry it forward this year, keeping our Target stores closed all day long on Thanksgiving Day.” And they weren’t just talking about 2021. “Today, I’m making it official: we’re going to keep our stores closed on future Thanksgivings too,” Target CEO Brian Cornell said in a previous message to employees. “What started as a temporary measure driven by the pandemic is now our new standard—one that recognizes our ability to deliver on our guests’ holiday wishes both within and well beyond store hours. You don’t have to wonder whether this is the last Thanksgiving you’ll spend with family and friends for a while, because Thanksgiving store hours are one thing we won’t ‘get back to’ when the pandemic finally subsides.” In 2020, in order to avoid the massive crowding that usually comes with holiday shopping (and especially on Black Friday), Target made its “biggest holiday deals” available starting in October both online and in stores, giving people more time to shop for bargains. “When we say you can take advantage of great deals all season long, we really mean it. So kick back, relax and enjoy a long nap after you finish that last piece of Thanksgiving turkey,” Target said on its website leading up to Thanksgiving in 2020. We’re looking forward to taking advantage of their great holiday deals before and after Thanksgiving this year, too!
