Week 1 Amazing Race elimination: Aastha Lal and Nina Duong
Despite Aastha’s excited energy, the engaged couple started the race taking their time, wanting to map out all the locations they would be visiting during the first-ever “Scramble.” Unfortunately, that did not prevent them from having difficulty navigating throughout Munich. And one particular task rolling through an obstacle course had them over a barrel (or a keg), making them the first team eliminated from the season.
Week 2 Amazing Race elimination: Rex Ryan and Tim Mann
Former NFL coach Rex hoped him and his partner Tim would have a winning record when all was said and done. But despite a fair finish in the opening leg, the pair learned the hard way that their Achilles heel was music. Rex’s dyslexia had him struggling in the yodeling Roadblock, and their failure to ace the bell ringing Detour was enough to send them out of the race on a low, clanging note.
Week 3 Amazing Race elimination: No one!
As announced in the previous week, this was the first part of a “Megaleg” that had the teams doing two Detours and two Roadblocks across two different cities. As such, the episode ended on “To Be Continued” as nearly all the teams had completed the first half of the leg.
Week 4 Amazing Race elimination: Rich Kuo and Dom Jones
Despite starting the Megaleg at the back of the pack, the motivational speakers were ready to manifest a good day, celebrating their third anniversary. What they got was a day out of Dante’s Inferno. Getting lost on the way to the second Roadblock put them in last place, and Dom’s initial misunderstanding of her task nearly had her quitting. But despite their setbacks, they pushed through and showed the love and light they’ve lived by. They were eliminated with tears in their eyes and love in their hearts.
Week 5 Amazing Race elimination: Linton and Sharik Atkinson
After the Megaleg had Sharik nearly quitting the race, she and her dad were ready to hopefully turn over a new leaf in a new country. Unfortunately, that leaf crumbled until Linton’s feet during the number of times he walked through the sand with a metal detector in his hands. His struggles searching put them in last place, a position they were not able to catch up from.
Week 6 Amazing Race elimination: Abby Garrett and Will Freeman
Amazing Race superfans Abby and Will had raced five episodes with a smile brimming from ear to ear. But that smile quickly turned upside-down, along with their race, when they were informed that they had tested positive for COVID prior to the start of this week’s leg. Out of safety, they were not allowed to continue. They got to say their goodbyes on a call with host Phil Keoghan, thanking him for making their dream come true.
Week 7 Amazing Race elimination: Glenda and Lumumba Roberts
It unfortunately seemed to be a foregone conclusion for newlyweds Glenda and Lumumba. Their last-place finish in the last leg put them 45 minutes behind the rest. They remained optimistic they could catch up, until an accident put them out of commission for some time. From there, they couldn’t make up enough ground, making him hit a low moment amongst the highs of the Panorama pit stop.
Week 8 Amazing Race elimination: Quinton Peron and Mattie Lynch
Quinton and Mattie’s journey through The Amazing Race highly vacillated, seeing both podium finishes and nearly getting eliminated in the second leg in Germany. A familiar problem seemed to crop up in this past leg, as the former cheerleaders picked the wrong highway to get to Toulouse. And despite them blazing their way easily through the tasks, the driving proved to do them in, stopping them short of the goal line.
Week 9 Amazing Race elimination: No one!

Week 10 Amazing Race elimination: Marcus and Michael Craig
Marcus and Michael were true examples of one bad task essentially ending your race. Coming into the Megaleg as one of the teams to beat, they stumbled at the start when Marcus struggled in the Roadblock. Unfortunately, it was a deficit they were never able to make up. Despite doing well at the other tasks, and continuing the seamless navigation that made them frontrunners to begin with, there was no room for error, sending the brothers out in fifth.
Week 11 Amazing Race elimination: Aubrey Ares and David Hernandez
While racing solidly and largely unmemorably for most of the season, ballroom dancers Aubrey and David started the penultimate leg in second place, hoping they could waltz into the Final 3. But they soon got hit with the team’s biggest weakness to date: David’s lack of swimming skills. His struggles during the canyoneering Roadblock and a snorkeling memorization task had him and Aubrey quitting the last task, guaranteeing they would be the last team eliminated.

Aastha is living out her fan dream getting to compete on The Amazing Race, especially alongside her fiancé. They call themselves “mentally threatening,” hoping their brain power can get them a nice chunk of change for their upcoming wedding.
Abby Garrett and Will Freeman - Childhood sweethearts from Birmingham, Alabama
Abby, 24, is a data scientist. Will, 25, is an accountant. The couple has been dating for eight years, but have known each other since they were kids. They hope that familiarity will lead to a successful dynamic on the race. They both grew up watching The Amazing Race, consistently game planning how they would do on the race. And we’ll see how that preparation translates from the couch to the seat of a taxi!
Aubrey Ares and David Hernandez - Ballroom dancers from Los Angeles, California
Aubrey, 29, is a dance studio owner. David, also 29, is a helicopter mechanic. The two met when David took one of Aubrey’s dance classes years ago, and it was love at first step. They talk up how well-balanced they are as a pair, with David’s patience and Aubrey’s passion and leadership as a businesswoman.
Derek Xiao and Claire Rehfuss - Reality romance from Los Angeles, California
Derek, 24, is a product manager. Claire, 25, is an A.I. engineer. The pair first appeared on our screens last summer, albeit competing against each other on Big Brother 23. Despite both losing the game, they found love in the jury house, and have been going strong now for nearly a year. This is Derek’s third CBS reality show, having also just appeared on The Challenge: USA, and he hopes their chances of winning will finally not go down the latrine.
Emily Bushnell (L) and Molly Sinert (R) - Long-lost twins from Ardmore, Pennsylvania and Palm Beach Gardens, Florida
Emily, 36, is a law firm admin. Molly, also 36, is a healthcare admin. The twins were separated at a young age when they were adopted to separate places from South Korea decades ago. They just met a year ago after a DNA test brought them back together, and they’re looking to make up for lost time. And those years apart has had them lead completely different lifestyles, with Molly growing up as a dancer and Emily currently a single mom.
Glenda and Lumumba Roberts - Newlyweds from Norcross, Georgia
Glenda, 41, is an insurance underwriter. Lumumba, also 41, is a middle school teacher. This couple has only known each other for two and a half years, having been married for one. But they’re ready to take on problems of any size on the race, which may work to their advantage considering the seven inches of height discrepancy between them.
Linton and Sharik Atkinson - Father and daughter from Brooklyn, New York
Linton, 50, is an assistant principal. Sharik, 23, is a Master’s student. The father/daughter duo come into the race with their own international experience, having immigrated from Jamaica in 2001. The same year, The Amazing Race premiered, and the two are thrilled to now get to see the world after vicariously experiencing it throughout their years of fandom.
Luis Colon and Michelle Burgos - Married from Miami, Florida
Luis, 34, is a firefighter. Michelle, 34, is a professional backup dancer for Pitbull. She and her husband are going from “Mr. Worldwide” to some worldwide travel on The Amazing Race. No matter what missteps they make take, or fires they need to put out, the married couple wants to walk away from the race having enjoyed every bit of the experience.
Marcus and Michael Craig - Military brothers from Richmond Hill, Georgia and Alamogordo, New Mexico
Marcus, 38, is an Army tank commander. Michael, 30, is an Air Force fighter pilot. Marcus has inspired his younger brother throughout their lives, from getting into the military to becoming a fan of The Amazing Race. The duo not only enter the race with a lot of travel experience, but some surprising brain power in Michael’s Ivy League education.
Quinton Peron and Mattie Lynch - Former Rams cheerleaders from Pasadena, California and Vista, California
Quinton, 29, is a choreographer. Mattie, 27, is a dance coach. The pair met and became best friends in the years they spent as cheerleaders for the current Super Bowl champions. Feeling their best skill is their balance, they hope to be able to make the moves–both strategically and literally–it takes to cross the finish line in first.
Rich Kuo and Dom Jones - Motivational speakers from Huntington Beach, California
Rich, 32, is a life coach. Dom, 35, is a gym owner. The two have been partners for three years and, true to their vocations, hope to serve as a motivational light to both the viewers and the world at large. The pair hopes Dom’s social game will take them far, as her self-proclaimed “merfairy” vibe will hopefully make the win far from mythical.
Tim Mann and Rex Ryan - Golf buddies from Brentwood, Tennessee
Rex, 59, is a current ESPN analyst who is most well known for his eight years in the NFL as head coach of the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills. Tim, 40, is a probation officer. The two met almost a decade ago, and their friendship only grew when Rex helped Tim get through a difficult time of his mother’s ALS diagnosis. Despite branding themselves “Team T-Rex,” the pair hopes their chances of getting a W won’t go extinct any time soon.

How will The Amazing Race season 34 handle filming during the pandemic?
Last season saw an unprecedented situation when filming took a hiatus for over a year from February 2020 to September 2021. When things unpaused, the race looked a little different. Not only did four teams have to drop out for various reasons, but the remaining teams were given a route that stayed entirely in Europe. They were also transported between legs by an official Amazing Race plane. We shall see if the show does the same approach for season 34.
What new changes are in The Amazing Race season 34?
The Amazing Race 34 marks the first time since season 15 where 12 teams will be racing, up from its usual amount of 11. The larger cast is perhaps due to the biggest twist of the season: The announcement of no non-elimination legs. It’s unknown whether the season will simply be 10 episodes, or if some double-length “Megalegs” will pad out the runtime. But CBS has confirmed in a press release that one team will go home at the end of every leg.Additionally, in a first for the series, the starting line will take place outside of the United States. The dozen teams will officially begin the race in Munich, Germany. This is a departure from the usual starting line in an American city. Seasons 28 and 33 opted for no formal start, instead having host Phil Keoghan give teams their first destination via a phone message.
