The Santa Clauses sees Allen’s character announce his retirement for the “good of Christmas” and the good of his family, but after hiring the “wrong guy” Scott needs to go back to the North Pole. Elizabeth Allen-Dick as Santa’s daughter Sandra

Allen’s real-life daughter Elizabeth Allen-Dick landed the role of his onscreen daughter Sandra in The Santa Clauses. “It’s difficult to believe, but it had very little to do with me,” the Home Improvement actor previously told Entertainment Weekly. “I wanted to put my youngest daughter as an elf, just so she’d see herself in a movie. But as she was reading for that, she read so well that they said, ‘We’d like to read her for more of a part.’ I said, ‘Whatever you want to do. I want nothing to do with it. I don’t want to pitch my daughter for a part in the movie.’ But she ended up moving to the high ranks. They loved how she read, loved it so much, because she’s playing a 13-year-old girl and she is 13. They ended up casting her as Santa’s daughter. It was a surprise but it became the most amazing experience.”  Disney Disney/James Clark

Is there a trailer for The Santa Clauses?

Disney debuted the official trailer for the series on Oct. 27. As the trailer shows, “Christmas is in trouble” following Scott Calvin’s retirement! Watch the trailer below:

What is The Santa Clauses about?

According to Disney, Scott Calvin is as “jolly as ever” after being Santa for nearly three decades, but as “Christmas declines in popularity, so does his Santa magic. Scott struggles to keep up with the demands of the job, as well as being there for his family. Upon discovering there is a way to retire from his post, Scott considers stepping down as Santa Claus and finding a worthy successor so that he can become a better father and husband.” For the “good of Christmas,” Allen’s character decides to retire and plans to spend Christmas with his family for the first time. However, the “new Santa” is destroying Christmas spirit, and “when the last of the light goes out it could be the end of Christmas.” “I retired too soon. I hired the wrong guy,” Scott says in the official trailer. “I’ve got to go back to the North Pole.”
