The Top 5 artists were Team Blake Shelton’s Ian Flanigan and Jim Ranger, Team John Legend’s John Holiday, Team Kelly Clarkson’s DeSz and Team Gwen Stefani’s Carter Rubin. Because of COVID-19 protocols, the finalists were not able to perform with one of their idols. Rather, recording artists Dan + Shay, Jason Derulo, JP Saxe, Julia Michaels, Keith Urban, Lauren Daigle, Lewis Capaldi, Nelly ft. Florida Georgia Line’s Tyler Hubbard and 24KGoldn ft. Iann Dior performed during the live season finale. In addition, there were performances from the coaches as well as a special holiday performance of “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree” featuring the Top 20. But let’s get to the good stuff, what you all want to know: Who won The Voice Season 19!

The Voice winner for 2020 is…

After a season of outstanding performances, Team Gwen’s Carter Rubin won Season 19 of The Voice, making him the youngest male winner in 19 seasons. He told reporters on Monday night in a Zoom call after his performance, “I think we are both going to be in puddle if I were to win. I would be emotional because I would be so happy to get Gwen her first win because she has never won before and I don’t know why because she is such an excellent coach. She deserves all the credit in the world. Whatever happens happens. I feel like a winner, but if I had a motive to win, it would be to get Gwen her first win.” Before the announcement, Gwen told him, “Everybody knows that watches the show that I have been wanting to work with a young artist. You are young, but you are a true artist. You have your whole life ahead. This is just a moment. You are so lucky to do it so young.” Carter began his journey on The Voice singing “Before You Go” by Lewis Capaldi for his Blind Audition. He continued his successful run on the singing competition with “Like I’m Gonna Lose You” in the Battle Rounds; “You Say” in the Knockout Rounds; “Hero” in the Live Playoffs; and “Rainbow Connection,” which Gwen selected for him, for the semifinals. That semifinals performance helped him land his spot in the finale, where he sang “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus and the original “Up From Here.” In that same interview, Carter said about the end of his time on The Voice, “I am going to miss rehearsing with Gwen. She is the most phenomenal coach. She gives such good advice that I have taken to heart and she is good at calming nerves. She is literally the best and I love her so much. We have built such a close bond.” Check back on Thursday for an exclusive interview with Carter.
