Today’s Wordle Answer #240: Monday, Feb. 14, 2022
Happy Valentine’s Day, Wordlers! A hint for today’s Wordle answer: People who hate Valentine’s Day may have an easier go at it. That said, it was a toughie for a lot of us! Following the relative ease of Wordle #239, today’s puzzle was a rude awakening. We started with “CRANE,” giving the allegedly best Wordle starting word another go. From there, we knew C was in the right place and that N was somewhere in play. We tried “CLOWN” next in an effort to find the correct placement for N as well as to narrow down more vowels. Then, what we’d like to excuse as our lack of caffeine kicked in. We tried “CHUNK.” Even though we knew that the N wasn’t placed correctly, we wanted to see if the “CH” combination would be used. No dice. “CINCH” was an effort to see if another C was anywhere in the puzzle, though we knew H wasn’t. Having an I and a second C confirmed made it relatively smooth sailing from there. Why? Because, well, you can’t make many other words with the letters presented. “CYNIC” is the Wordle 240 solution, and we think the New York Timeswas being somewhat cheeky having that be the choice word for Valentine’s Day. Didn’t get today’s Wordle? Don’t be bitter or a cynic about it. There’s always tomorrow!
