It’s mentioned in her Bachelor bio, which says her hearing impairment “never stopped Abigail from living her life to the fullest.” Chris Harrison also brought up Abigail’s hearing impairment in a Facebook video introducing all of the contestants, noting that Abigail is the first person with a hearing impairment that has ever been on the show. “An incredible story to tell,” he added. Both Abigail and her sister Rachel were born with congenital hearing loss, according to the Statesman Journal. Abigail had cochlear implantation surgery when she was two. “I was surprised she was willing to share her story about her hearing loss,” Abigail’s mom Suzie told the paper. “It’s something she usually doesn’t talk much about.”
Chris Harrison is a big fan
“We don’t play favorites but I’ll say right now that Abigail is one of our favorites,” Chris said in the video introducing all of the contestants. Chris calls Abigail an “absolute gem of a woman” who is “impossible not to fall in love with.” He also said that she’s a “beautiful, sincere” person, noting, “I think you’re all going to really love Abigail who…makes a very strong first impression on Matt.”
Abigail is a talented golfer
According to LinkedIn, Abigail was on the women’s golf team at Linfield College and it seems like she’s really good at the sport. There are several reports of her leading her team to victory in college.
Abigail is close with her family
Abigail loves to spend time with her family, according to her Bachelor profile, and she says they “bring out the best side of her.” BTW: Her profile also says that she loves to spend her free time “golfing with her grandparents.” Abigail is even roommates with her sister Rachel, according to the Statesman Journal.
